DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been reported in VERITAS Backup Exec, which can
be exploited by malicious people to bypass certain security
restrictions.
The vulnerability is caused due to a logic error in the remote agent
for Windows and makes it possible to download an arbitrary file from
a vulnerable system.
According to the vendor, the vulnerability affects versions 8.0, 8.5,
and 8.6 for Windows.
NOTE: An exploit is publicly available.
SOLUTION:
The vendor recommends restricting access to the service (port
10000/tcp).
