DESCRIPTION:
barabas mutsonline has discovered a vulnerability in freeftpd, which
can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable
system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when handling the
USER command. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer
overflow via an overly long user name.
Successful exploitation requires that logging is enabled on the
server.
The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 1.0.8.
SOLUTION:
Update to version 1.0.9.
