TITLE:

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA18598

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/18598/

CRITICAL:
Moderately critical

IMPACT:
DoS, System access

WHERE:
>From remote

SOFTWARE:
PAM-MySQL 0.x
http://secunia.com/product/7880/

DESCRIPTION:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in PAM-MySQL, which
potentially can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS
(Denial of Service) or compromise a vulnerable system.

1) An unspecified error in the SQL logging facility can potentially
be exploited to cause a DoS.

2) A double-free error exists in the authentication and
authentication token alteration code when handling a pointer returned
by the "pam_get_item()" function. This can be exploited by supplying a
specially crafted password, which results in a DoS or can potentially
be exploited to execute arbitrary code.

The vulnerabilities have been reported in versions 0.6.1 and 0.7pre2.
Prior versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Update to version 0.6.2.

The vulnerabilities have also been addressed in version 0.7pre3.

PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
Reported by the vendor.
