VULNERABILITY SUMMARY
A potential security vulnerability has been identified with HP-UX
running /sbin/passwd which could be locally exploited to create a
Denial of Service (DoS).

BACKGROUND

The /sbin/passwd command does not recover gracefully from some
error conditions.
