CRITICAL:

WHERE:
Local system

SOFTWARE:
Linux VServer 1.x
http://secunia.com/product/2983/

DESCRIPTION:
Jan Rekorajski has reported a security issue in Linux-VServer, which
can be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions
with escalated privileges.

The problem is caused by certain context capabilities, which are not
limited to the guest-root. This allows users inside the guest to
perform certain actions on usually restricted resources.

The security issue is reported for versions 0.09.10 to vs2.0-rc2.

SOLUTION:
Apply patch (kernel 2.6.16).
http://vserver.13thfloor.at/Stuff/delta-vxcapable-fix01a.diff

Reportedly fixed in version vs2.0.2-rc18 and vs2.1.1-rc18 (kernel
2.6.16.11).
