CRITICAL:
Moderately critical

IMPACT:
Manipulation of data

SOFTWARE:
CodeAvalanche News 1.x
http://secunia.com/product/10033/

DESCRIPTION:
Omnipresent has reported a vulnerability in CodeAvalanche News, which
can be exploited by malicious people to conduct SQL injection
attacks.

Input passed to the "password" parameter in CANews/admin/default.asp
is not properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can
be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL
code.

Note: This can be exploited to access the administration section and
allows an attacker to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which
will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an
affected site when malicious data is viewed.

The vulnerability has been reported in version 1.2. Other versions
may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
