CRITICAL:
Highly critical

IMPACT:
System access

WHERE:

SOFTWARE:
InterActual Player 2.x
http://secunia.com/product/6311/

DESCRIPTION:
Parvez Anwar has discovered a vulnerability in InterActual Player,
which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's
system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the
ITIRecorder.MicRecorder ActiveX control. This can be exploited to
cause a stack-based buffer overflow via an overly long string passed
to the argument of the "Files" method.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code, but
requires that the user is e.g. tricked into visiting a malicious
website.

The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 2.60.12.0201 with
IARECORD.DLL (1.07.11.0620). Other versions may also be affected

SOLUTION:
Update to the latest version 2.6.
