DESCRIPTION:
Parvez Anwar has discovered a vulnerability in TFTP Server TFTPDWIN,
which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable
system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in tftpd.exe
during the processing of requested resources. This can be exploited
to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by requesting a resource with
an overly long name (more than 280 bytes).
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 0.4.2. Other versions may
also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Restrict use of the TFTP service to trusted networks only.
