ESA-2012-019: EMC Documentum Information Rights Management Multiple Vulnerabilities.

EMC Identifier: ESA-2012-019
CVE Identifiers: CVE-2012-2276, CVE-2012-2277

Severity Rating: CVSS v2 Base Score: 6.3 (AV:N/AC:M/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C)

Affected products:
EMC Documentum Information Rights Management Server 4.x
EMC Documentum Information Rights Management Server 5.x

Summary:
EMC Information Rights Management (IRM) contains vulnerabilities that can potentially be exploited by malicious users to cause denial of service.

Details:
Multiple vulnerabilities have been identified in EMC Documentum IRM, which can potentially be exploited by malicious users to cause denial of service.

  1. NULL pointer dereferences can occur if specially crafted or malformed data is sent to the IRM Server (CVE-2012-2276). These can cause crashes and denial-of-service.
  2. IRM Server may become unresponsive if unauthorized repetitive "batch begin untethered" calls are made as part of specially crafted or malformed data sent to server (CVE-2012-2277). This may lead to denial-of-service.

Resolution:
The following EMC Documentum IRM products contain resolution to these issues:

EMC Documentum IRM Server 4.7.0100 and later
EMC Documentum IRM Server 5.0.1030 and later

Exploits for these vulnerabilities are publicly available. EMC strongly recommends that all customers upgrade to latest version of the products, which contain the resolution to these issues, at the earliest opportunity.

Link to Remedies:
