Summary:
EMC Avamar contains a security vulnerability that may potentially be leveraged by a malicious user to obtain sensitive information when performing a backup or restore operation relating to the vCenter Server.

Details:
EMC Avamar VMware image and File Level Restore (FLR) proxies do not verify SSL certificates properly when presented by vCenter and may be vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks. This vulnerability may potentially be exploited to obtain sensitive information when performing backup and restore operations relating to the vCenter Server.

Resolution:
Customers can apply one of the following resolutions:

β€’ Upgrade the proxy to EMC Avamar proxy client 7.1.101-141 and apply Hotfix 222547
β€’ Upgrade the proxy to EMC Avamar proxy client 7.1.100-370 and apply Hotfix 222536
β€’ Upgrade the proxy to EMC Avamar proxy client 7.0.102-47 and apply HotFix 222535
β€’ If the EMC Avamar proxy client is already at 7.0.102-43, then apply hotfix 222535, which is compatible with either proxy client versions 7.0.102-43 or 7.0.102-47
