PeopleSoft IClient Servlet Remote Command Execution Vulnerability
Synopsis:
ISS X-Force has discovered a flaw in a servlet that is part of the
PeopleSoft PeopleTools application framework. PeopleSoft enterprise
software enables management of all manner of business functions including
human resources, customer relations, supply chain and finance. The
PeopleTools application framework provides a real-time capability for data
sharing between PeopleSoft and non-PeopleSoft applications. The IClient
servlet is configured to run by default on the PeopleSoft Web Server and
handles core functionality such as authentication, session management, and
user profiles. It is accessible as a Java servlet, and is capable of
handling file uploads via HTTP.
Impact:
Files uploaded to the IClient servlet are stored in the Web root
directory, which can be located by a remote attacker. This can lead to
remote command execution, and complete compromise of the PeopleSoft Web
server. Compromise of PeopleSoft Web server installations will disclose
critical confidential information, and facilitate the compromise of
PeopleSoft Application and Database back-end servers. ISS X-Force has not
received any reports of active exploitation of this vulnerability.
Affected Versions:
PeopleTools 8.1x, 8.2x and 8.4x included with most PeopleSoft
installations, including but not limited to:
PeopleSoft HCM (Human Capital Management)
PeopleSoft CRM (Customer Relationship Management)
PeopleSoft EPM (Enterprise Performance Management)
PeopleSoft FMS (Financial Management Solutions)
PeopleSoft SCM (Supply Chain Management)
PeopleSoft ESA (Enterprise Server Automation)
PeopleSoft SRM (Supplier Relationship Management)
