Well, we'll have to hear what the sendmail people say then.  I still contend
that all lines that are in "From " header format should be quoted if they do
not start a message.

I doubt that many IMAP clients would handle 70000 message mailboxes.  Of
course, Pine will do just fine.  Unfortunately, I'm not encouraged by what
I've seen in most other clients (especially Netscape and Outlook) that tend to
treat IMAP as a glorified POP.

On an ancient 25MHz 68040 CPU, the c-client library parses 1000 traditional
UNIX format messages per second.  So, indeed, 70000 message would cause it to
consume a lot of CPU time (more than one CPU minute).

A modern CPU should be quite a bit more competant than that; and in any case I
would recommend the use of a more efficient format if you routinely have so
many messages in a mailbox.  The maximum that I've seen with our users is
closer to 7000 messages.
